Visiting St Augustine - weekend trip
One of my favorite cities to visit in Florida just so happens to be one of the oldest cities in America! I love living just a skip away from St Augustine and made a trip out of it with my husband to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We used the wonderful team at Explorateur Travel to find and book the most amazing property at The Collector Luxury Inn. The weather was a fickle friend and sent rains and gale force winds our way postponing our private sunset sail charter. We were still able to explore the streets and art galleries with rain jackets and a brisk pace.
The Collector is located right next to the Lightner Museum and it is convenient that there is so much to do in a compact area. The property is a unique collection of houses that seem to be just plopped around a well bar and gorgeous small plunge pool. The sun was shining our first day but with the chill it was nice to relax by the fire pits. They have cruisers for guest to make their way around the city. I adore the pink house surrounded by southern magnolias and an assortment of palm trees.
We spent some time exploring Anastasia State Park and the beaches. The white sand dunes and amount of beach was incredible. Truly a gorgeous beach, I like to imagine what it would have been like to approach the expansive sand it by ship for the first time. Right outside of Anastasia State Park you can find the coquina quarries and the white and black striped lighthouse. The St Augustine food scene is fire! We had reservations at Llama and Preserved and grabbed lunch at The Floridian. We always have to grab coffees from Kookaburra!
