Thanksgiving and a Tomato Tart Recipe

Thanksgiving and the Holidays tend to bring out the best in people.  I am so full of love.  I am full of food.  I am full of gratitude.  Maybe it's the turkey coma or the red wine but I really feel the need to share my thankfulness with y'all.  For real I have an incredible family that never ceases to amaze me.  I want to share my love of being in the kitchen.  I love our kitchen.  It is the heart of our home.  It is where I create the meals that brings us all together every evening around the dinner table.  I love to play and get messy in the kitchen.  I don't know about you but I jump at any chance to try out a new recipe and love all the Holidays even more for that reason!  My huge family does a sign-up for different dishes.. This year I signed up for classic green beans cooked in bacon fat and a tomato tart that turned out scrumptious!

A few things you may not know about me.

  1. I love to cook.  I love to bake.  I love to dance in the kitchen.  Cooking allows me the creative freedom to build flavor profiles and fulfills my creative heart.  Baking gives me the decisive directions that create confectionary dreams that keeps me learning of kitchen techniques.  Dancing is just necessary.
  2. I loooove kitchen utensils.  Wooden spoons are my life.  I can and have spent many of hours getting lost in Williams Sonoma.
  3. I am an apron and kitchen towel fiend.  I love the atmosphere that different kitchen towels create and always smile when changing them out.  Donning my different aprons hugely affects my dishes - ok maybe not - but it keeps my clothes clean and I feel cute!

Because I spend so much time in the kitchen and it is something I truly love I decided to start sharing my recipe successes and cooking stories with y'all.  I haven't started photographing the entire cooking process, so enjoy these complete captures and my cute apron collection!  Starting with this mascarpone tomato tart I made for my families Thanksgiving.  You can find the recipe I used here.  I pretty much followed it using mascarpone cheese, rosemary and lemon zest to a T.  I paired it with a red and green plaid apron.

Make sure you allot yourself plenty of time for this recipe.  It took me four hours start to finish but I made my own pie crust.  You can find my favorite all butter pie crust recipe here. My mother-in-law is kind of the queen of homemade pie and pie crust and certainly taught me a few secrets that I cherish. I would love to see what y'all create if you attempt the recipe so post to instagram #psjkitchen!
