#365NoNewClothes - 60 Day Update!
I am past 2 months into my 1 year, 365 days, long challenge to myself to not purchase any new clothing items in 2019 and I can say it is going, rocky.. Yes, you will be seeing duplicate outfits from me and no I don’t care. To be honest I mostly wear my favorite outfit of the month every other day that month, so glad we cleared that up. I didn’t realize how much junk email and mailers I receive on a daily basis boasting sales and the likes. Ignoring my favorite companies at first had me like, gahhh, why do I need it?! I have not yet caved though to my favorite, most strategic advertisers and I have learned to better use my emails filter and sweep features, thank you for that! I also was unaware of how many outfits I had in my closet with the tags on them, had to #konmarymethod that madness. Any other Mary Kondo addicts out there? As much as I try I will never be able to do those tiny folds but her methods have definitely made an impact here and finding joy in what we have.
Within the first month, I will confess, I did purchase a shirt off Poshmark. It was new without tags so the fact that it was already off the shelves and in someone else’s closet made me feel like I wasn’t cheating on my challenge. Until I purchased it and felt instant remorse! Once I received the top I noticed it was not the style top it had been advertised as and returned it, crisis adverted! I still allow myself to purchase accessories like scarves, hats, and jewelry to add a little spice to my now “limited” closet. I must admit I have finally come to terms with being a hat addict..
Coming up on the three month mark and really don’t feel like this is going to be hard at all!
Anyone want to join me, maybe try for just a month or 3!?
